In collaboration with Ms Lorraine and classes from Serbia and Greece, the Junior 6s will be embarking on this new journey… Exchanging sweets and working Mathematical calculations using nutritional values on each packet.
Today marked the start of this new journey, where we met and got to know our new friends and planned a way forward. While at first, connection proved to be a bit challenging at the end we managed to chat with both classes through a Skype group chat and made another appointment for the 1st, where we will be tasting each other’s sweets and working through the worksheet, which Ms Lorraine will be specifically planning for this joint venture.
This gives us a little spark which makes teaching and learning fun for both students and teachers alike and while as explained to the students, in reality, we do not know these teachers or students, somehow after our first chat, it’s like we have an extension to our classrooms. Beyond our classroom walls, we get to explore new methodologies and build new connections.
Really looking forward….
Dear all,
May I remind you about our outing tomorrow at Marsa Sports Ground/Velocity Park
Applying a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) approach to learning. The students will be first taken to the Velocity Park, where they will be applying learned skills during their PE lessons. This will be followed by a combined activity at the Marsa Sports grounds, where divided in groups the students get to test that Prototype – Microbit step counter holder, while creating an electrical circuit during a Relay Race.
While the technicalities of these tasks have been learned in class, tomorrow the children get to test and tweak any difficulties that may arise to achieve their final targets.
Be reminded to bring along :
Your Microbit holder
Your equipment for the electrical circuit
Enough drink and food
Coding their Micro:bits for tomorrow:
Looking forward
Ms Gaby
Task:
Creating a prototype step counter to be eventually tested during a Physical Education activity. This is the Junior 6s Cross Curricular activity planned in line to their Physical Education lessons carried out with Miss Sefora.
Students are asked to design and sketch their proposed prototype, whilst keeping it simple enough to create it. This task is due next week, as on Thursday we will be focusing on the coding aspect of this activity.
